History of the Henderson Companies

The Henderson Companies was founded in 1970 when Mr. Barry Henderson, President of The Henderson Companies, started in the commercial real estate business with JB Henderson Properties, Inc. (JBHPI). Today, JBHPI has evolved to become a full service real estate development and property management firm that develops retail, office and industrial space throughout the United States.

In 1990, Henderson Cold Storage, Inc. was formed when a client described their product storage and distribution needs for a new location in Northwest Georgia. As a commercial developer in the Atlanta, GA area, Henderson realized the opportunity of building a storage facility that provides quality service to one client in a dedicated refrigerated warehouse. The process of researching the client’s needs, locating a site convenient to the manufacturing plant and designing and constructing a refrigerated warehouse resulted in the opening of their first dedicated freezer warehouse in 1990.

By 1996, Henderson Cold Storage had designed, built, owned and operated four additional warehouses. All of the facilities met their client’s specifications from staffing, hours of operation, storage and handling, temperature and humidity to inventory management systems. By 2000, two additional facilities were added, locating dedicated Henderson Cold Storage facilities in Georgia, Florida, Ohio, New York, New Hampshire and Virginia.
